Home Defence Flight

History of the Home Defence Flight : In late 1917 the German Raider, SMS Wolf was operating in Australian waters along with it's Friedrichshafen Seaplane. The Central Flying School in co-operation with the Royal Australian Navy and Royal Navy attached a reconnaissance flight for Home Defence. Captain F.H. McNamara who had been repatriated to Australia after winning a VC in Palestine was placed in command of the flight which deployed to Yarram and Lieutenant R.F.
